Kim is currently employed by Vantage Specialty Chemicals as a Sales Executive since 2013.
She is the incumbent Coschem President. She has been an active Coschem member for many year, she was Chair of the Social Committee, a previous Council Member and Chair of the Lecture Evening Committee. She currently chairs the Membership Committee. Kim is also a lecturer for the Cosmetic Science Course. She completed Dip Cos Science in 2005 after a BSC Natural Health in 2004. She has been involved in the industry since 2001 having gained experience in many aspects from the lab to production to sales |

Charmaine works for AECI Specialty Chemicals as a Product Manager on Personal Care and Homecare. She is a R&D Chemist and a Packaging Engineer, with a Diploma in Cosmetic Science and a Diploma in Packaging Engineering. She has studied Beauty Technology at Technikon of Pretoria and Production management. She is currently completing a degree Business Management at Unisa.
She has 22 years of experience in the industry and held various positions from Lab manager, Manufacturing manager, Quality Manager, R&D Chemist, Product developer, HOD Manufacturing and Packaging Engineer, Key Accounts Manager to her current position being Product Manager for Personal Care and Homecare. She has worked for various companies, such as Adcock Ingram/Tiger Brands, CW Pharmaceuticals, Avon/Justine, SRT/Southern Implants, Prime Products, Favours Factory and Chempure. In her journey through life, she had her own consulting business with a salon and consulted for various companies. She decided to pursue a sales career and started at Chempure as a Key Accounts Manager and is now the Product Manager at AECI Specialty Chemicals for Personal Care & Homecare. She enjoys Photography and the outdoors. Loves Zumba, is a qualified instructor and Bounce as sports. She is married and has two daughters. |

Erica started her career in Finance with a Diploma in Financial Accounting/Bookkeeping, and held various positions within a variety of Industries (FMCG, News Media, Health & Wellness and Motor Industries).
In 2009, she decided to follow her passion and completed the Coschem Diploma Course. This passion has seen me devote many hours of my free time to developing and experimenting, resulting in new products, some of which have found homes with some big brand owners and well-known entrepreneurs. To try stay on top of the ever-changing Cosmetic Legislation Law, She continuously read books and magazines as well as browse the media on updates on ingredients, packaging, and labelling, etc. And now, her passion to create her very own brand has finally come true with jess-ae, while she continues to support Unichem Services as Sales Manager as well as consult on the Technical and R&D side of things. She is currently with Unichem Services as the only Sales Manager on the Cosmetic/Coating side and get involved with all aspects of Technical and R&D work on Cosmetics. |

René obtained her B.Sc. Hons degree at the University of Stellenbosch. She started her career in diverse positions from QA to R&D at Distillers Corporation in Stellenbosch, still has products selling into the local and international markets from this tenure.
She started her sales career with Degussa, now Evonik, as Technical Sales Representative, in Animal Nutrition. She obtained experience in Product Management and Business Management, at two major chemical suppliers in South Africa. In November 2011, she joined Evonik Africa tasked with developing Evonik’s business in Sub-Saharan Africa in the areas of Personal Care, Household Care and Baby Care. After appointing several distributors, and crisscrossing Africa, she gave up Baby Care in order to focus on opportunities in the Oil & Gas markets, while still handling business development for Personal & Household Care. |

Nicola Barnard Marais

Nicola completed her Ph.D in physical chemistry under a Sasol catalysis bursary at the University of the Free State. Following a post doctoral fellowship in Pharmaceutics she joined the preclinical drug development platform of North West University as a senior lecturer. It was here as Pheroid pilot plant coordinator that she discovered her passion for topical applications or cosmetic chemistry.
In pursuit of a career in our industry she moved to Pretoria holding positions as R&D manager, technical manager and formulator in personal, skin, hair care and color cosmetic 3PMs (DCLabs, SDK). Currently exploring all facets of the industry she has made a switch to Sales Account Manager for multinational sensorial ingredient supplier, Sensient Cosmetic Technologies. She is honored to be a part of our tight knit community of cosmetic chemists in beautiful South Africa. |
Andre is a qualified engineer from RAU and UP with a MBA. Have a passion to understand the relationship of the skin in today’s changing environment.
He has have been involved in the cosmetic industry for 12 years in the formulation and manufacturing of products. His passion is sunscreens, understanding how filters & ingredients can contribute to the protection of the skin from the sun’s and technology’s damaging rays. He does sunscreen formulations for SUN SKIN and on a contract basis for doctors and dermatologist. To build his knowledge, he completed the Cosmetic Chemistry Diploma and is a member of the SA Sunscreen Working group. |

Beverley obtained her B.Sc degree in Biochemistry and Microbiology at the Nelson Mandela University. She thereafter furthered her studies in the separate fields of Law, Psychology, Marketing Management and Cosmetic Science.
For the past 20 years she has worked at multinational companies in the pharmaceutical and personal care industries, managing sales for Sub-Saharan Africa for the cosmetic, fragrance, detergent and aroma molecules divisions. She has a vivid and demonstrated history working on the African continent, engaging with a multitude of manufacturers and brand owners. Currently, Beverley owns a consulting company that assists organizations to formulate, develop and launch impactful cosmetic brands in Africa. She is also the brand owner of a fragrance and skincare range committed to reducing indulgent consumerism. |
Kudzai is an enthusiastic Chemist with a great deal of experience in project planning and executions, process control and optimization, proven expertise in wet and surface chemistry, Quality Management and Product Development.
He holds a BSc Hons in Chemistry and a Diploma in Cosmetic Science. He kicked off career in Mining experience spanning over 5 years as Reduction Officer, 9yrs of Detergent Manufacturing with Bliss Brands. He joined the Coschem team in 2018 as the Education Officer. |

Aeysha is passionate about the personal care industry and has been a valued contributor and member for 6 years. She holds a MSc in Pharmaceutical Science and a Coschem Diploma.
She started her career at the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, where she evaluated the encapsulation of TB actives to improve its efficacy and pharmacological drug delivery. She later ventured into the personal care industry where she has gained extensive experience in personal care and nutritional product development and manufacturing at Azochem Laboratories and Le-Sel Research. She furthered her R&D skills at Croda, as a Lead Applications Scientist where she specialised in formulation development, consumer perceivable studies and instrumental testing of speciality ingredients and formulations on various substrates. She recently joined Chempure as a Key Accounts Manager where she heads up the Personal Care Portfolio. She is determined to combine her technical expertise with her new commercial role to understand and advocate the importance of both areas in advancing the industry. |
Liesl has a PhD in polymer chemistry from the University of Stellenbosch. She started her career in the industrial sector as an analytical chemist and moved on to new product development.
In 2015, Keulder joined a multinational company in the beauty and personal care industry. In 2017 she moved to Cirebelle as Technical Manager and leads the Technical Department. An expert in developing integrated chemical solutions, Liesl’s industry background is entrenched in coatings and new product development analysis. Her role includes overseeing regulation, new product development, product application and analytical services. |

Lumbi is currently Lead application Scientist at Croda SA. She received her PhD in Chemical Technology from the University of Pretoria, during which she was a visiting doctoral scholar at the Center of Engineering Sciences & Polymer Technology at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, Germany.
She also holds a diploma in Cosmetic Science from COSCHEM. Her previous work experience includes scientific research and development at the CSIR and agrochemicals field. An avid reader and innovation enthusiast. |
Jacques completed his degree in Chemical Engineering at the University of Stellenbosch in 2013. His final year dissertation as well as further Masters studies were focused on Microbiological Engineering in the field of biofuels, where he studied microalgae conversion to biodiesel as well as starch conversion to bioethanol. His career took a turn when he started working as an R&D Manager in 2016 at a FMCG manufacturing company in Muizenberg, Cape Town.
In December 2018, he joined the dynamic AECI Specialty Chemicals (former ChemSystems) team as the technical manager for Personal care and home care. Other than his professional aspirations in science, Jacques loves creating: Whether it be music, art, woodwork, electronics, photography or 3D renderings. |

Samantha is currently the Manager of Research & Development at SkinChem (Pty) Ltd. – Manufacturing Laboratory. She obtained her BSc Microbiology degree from University of Pretoria, initially working in the medical microbiology laboratory at Ampath Pathology Laboratory Support Services.
She then completed her Diploma in Cosmetic Science and has served on the Coschem Education Committee since. She has 6 years working experience in the cosmetic industry for various companies such as Accolade Laboratories and ScentPac in Cape Town, contract manufacturing various cosmetic skincare brands; in Johannesburg for Savannah Fine Chemicals, as a Product Specialist and SkinChem (Pty) Ltd., working predominantly in Product Development. She has a passion for cosmetics and is eager to continuously improve her knowledge in this field. She enjoys the outdoors, gym, yoga, reading and spending time with family & friends. |
Wayne is the Managing and Technical Director of Vantage Specialty Chemicals & Cosmetic Technologies. He is a Biochemist and has a Diploma in Cosmetic Science and Directors Administration.
Wayne has more than 30 years’ experience in the industry and specialises in Hair Care, particularly, ethnic hair, Skin Care and Suncare. He has held various positions from QC Material analyst, R&D Manager, Manufacturing Manager, Technical Manager to his current position, with various companies, such as Revlon, Amka, Hoechst and Procter & Gamble. He currently serves on the Coschem council, was past president, chairs the Scientific committee and lectures in Stability Science and Ethnic Hair. He is on the CTFA Executive committee and an Export Executive. He also serves on the Technology Innovation Agencies Advisory Panel.His hobbies include Wild life and hunting. As sport goes, he is a Golfer and Boater. |

Anina van der Walt is a registered pharmacist since 2001 and her educational training includes:
B.Pharm and M.Sc Pharmaceutics (cum laude) specialising in Topical Formulation Design (NWU, Potchefstroom, South Africa). Safety Assessment of Cosmetics in the EU (VUB, Belgium). Bioengineering skin measurement device advanced training (Courage & Khazaka, Germany). Various other professional work related courses (ISO, GxP) and conferences. As per her professional experience she is highly skilled in regulatory affairs, topical product R&D and clinical research (in vivo clinical trials). She has a demonstrated history of working in the pharmaceutical & cosmetic industry as well as the higher education sphere. She is former Head of Regulatory Affairs and Policy Analysis at the Cosmetic Toiletries and Fragrance Association (CTFA). Her current position is Regulatory Pharmacist (SAHPRA clinical evaluator) and Cosmetic Product Safety Assessor and Managing Director at Acuservices (Pty) Ltd. |
