Fragrance Applications Technologist-PTA

Sensory FX is seeking an experienced and talented Fragrance Applications Technologist for a permanent position at our head office in Centurion, South Africa.


The Fragrance Application Technologist position in our Research and Development team is to support a progressive and innovative product development and sales strategy in the Africa region. The successful applicant will need to have experience of selected cosmetic, personal hygiene and various cleaning applications, ingredients and processes with practical experience in the customer product-manufacturing environment. A good understanding of many of the fragrance reactions/interactions in common cosmetic products with the ability to successfully lead selected industry projects and to translate market trends into innovative products for selected customers. In addition the applications technologist serves to guide and assist the fragrance technologists during the project brief and product creation processes. This position will also be responsible to provide accurate guidance to the sales team on industry and product trends.


  • Execute brief-related tasks including fragrance selection, product evaluation and application development.
  • Serve as technical expert and advisor to marketing, sales, fragrance creation and customers for specific applications.
  • Lead evaluations of fragrances in fragrance applications for briefs, research projects and portfolio evaluations.
  • Actively maintain the fragrance performance data for the fragrance portfolio through evaluation of finished product and capture of profiles.
  • Identify appropriate fragrance delivery systems and technologies for customer projects in specific applications and select optimal fragrances for projects according to specified requirements (i.e. customer, regulatory, legislation, cost)
  • Maintain a safe, clean and organized lab environment in accordance with EH&S policies and hold others accountable for following these guidelines



Skills: Your professional profile includes:

  • Degree or qualification in Cosmetic Science / Consumer Science or equivalent
  • Previous work experience with required fragrance segment (cosmetic, personal and home care products).
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience as application technologist in the fragrance industry, or in R&D department / cosmetic, personal or home care product development with a good understanding about manufacturing processes in the related industry
  • Aware of industrial constraints
  • Able to work with standard processing equipment
  • Experience in the use of fragrances
  • Passionate about fragrances and personal/ home care products; well-developed sensory skills
  • Well developed Project management skills: taking the project lead, arranging the team to work within a project; executing, monitoring and finalizing each project successfully.

A position has become available for a Factory Production Manager at a skincare/bath and body Manufacturing Company, with the production capacity of 15’000 units per day.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:



  1. Organize and oversea the manufacturing plant.
  2. Organise maintenance, repairs and servicing of all machinery and equipment.
  3. Maintain our safety procedure systems.

A position has become available for a Factory Production Manager at a State of the Art Cleanroom Cosmetic Manufacturing Company, with the production capacity of 90’000 units per day, which is based just outside of Ballito.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:


  • Organize and solve any issues that arise to ensure a smooth efficient production is maintained.
  • Control the workshop hours as per required to meet the timeframes.
  • Liaise with all necessary parties.
  • Organize machinery and vehicle maintenance, servicing and repairs to maintain the continuous operation of the factory.
  • Keep the motivation and harmony alive in the factory and ensure start to finish times are maintained for optimum productivity.
  • Maintain our safety procedure systems.
  • Planning and organizing production schedules.
  • Ensure that health and safety regulations are met.
  • Oversee the production process.
  • Selecting, ordering, and purchasing of materials.

Qualifications and experience required:

Our client seeks to employ a Sales Executive within the Commercial Department, who will be responsible for managing a portfolio of speciality and commodity raw materials strategically within South Africa and other regions from purchase to selling.


Major Duties/ Key Responsibilities


  • Managing a portfolio of specialty and commodity raw materials strategically within South Africa and other regions from purchase to selling
  • Managing a portfolio of Key Account Customers.
  • Price Negotiations at senior levels
  • Promotion of Company products and image.
  • Conduct presentations at customers in partnership with Technical on new product launches.
  • Growing customer base year on year in terms of volume, revenue and margins.

  • Must currently/previously be in sales position within the Personal Care/Homecare/Pharmaceutical Industry.
  • Industry or market knowledge within the Personal Care and Industrial segment.
  • Formulation experience within the Personal Care and Industrial segment will be an added advantage
