Buyer – Procurement Department, PTA

A Buying position has become available in the Procurement Department. The incumbent will be part of the functional procurement team with the primary role of procuring raw materials and packaging for the business.

Responsibilities:

  • Managing the Procurement cycle
    • Ensure actions sheets are completed on time by scrutinizing the MRP system and ordering the correct components, the correct QTY, at the correct price, for the correct date required and obtaining order confirmations.
    • Ensure orders are managed by either expediting them or following up on overdue orders daily.
    • Provide feedback to Customer service and Planning regarding problem materials.
  • Managing material pricing
    • Quarterly pricing via our internet pricing portal, negotiating and updating the system accordingly.
    • Notify Costings and Customer service for approval of any material PPV’s (purchase price variances or airfreights)
    • Obtain approval from higher management on any excess materials and notify Customer service to obtain another sales order from the client.
    • Cost Savings, review EBQ’s and align with product batch sizes
  • Managing Suppliers
    • Service Level Agreements
    • Supplier Scorecards
    • Price agreements
  • Managing of OOS’s (Out of system sales orders) ensuring OOS’s is run weekly and feedback to Customer Service is given ASAP.
  • Liaise with warehouse and QC regarding receipts and rejections.

    Qualification:

  • Grade 12
  • Diploma in Procurement will be an advantage.
  • Minimum 5-year experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Excellent communication skills – written & verbal.
  • Advance knowledge of MS Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Syspro.
